The short version: your conversation history never leaves your own machine. The Memspire browser extension reads conversations from ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini and sends them only to the Memspire desktop app running locally on the same computer (127.0.0.1). Nothing is uploaded to Memspire's servers or any third party as part of that process.
Our commitment: Memspire will not sell, transfer, or share any of your data with any third party, otherwise benefit from it, or use it to train AI models, without your express authorization. The only exception is the service providers that store or process data for Memspire, such as our cloud hosting, email, and payment providers. They may use it only to provide those services to us.

What the browser extension does

The Memspire Local Import extension fetches your conversation history directly from ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini's own websites, using your existing logged-in session in your browser -- the same way the site itself would show you that history. It stages that content locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local) and, if the Memspire desktop app is running, forwards each conversation to it over a connection that never leaves your computer (http://127.0.0.1:8834).

No conversation content is sent to Memspire's own servers, or to any third party, by the extension.

What the desktop app does

The Memspire desktop app stores your imported conversations in a local database on your machine. Full-text and semantic search happen locally. If you subscribe to continuous background sync, the same local-only capture path is what stays active between manual imports -- it does not change where your conversation data is stored.

What we collect for your Memspire account

When you connect or create a Memspire account (the desktop app asks you to the first time it opens), we store the account information you provide -- email address, and authentication details if you sign in with Google -- along with a record of your installation (its app version and when it was last active) and basic subscription/billing status if you choose to subscribe to Pro. Payment processing is handled by Stripe; Memspire does not store your card details.

If you contact support

When you send us a message through the contact form, we store what you submit (your email address, your name if you give it, the topic, your computer type for technical questions, and your message), along with your browser type, a one-way hash of your IP address used only to limit abuse, and your request's tracking number and status. We use this only to answer and follow up on your request. Confirmation and notification emails are delivered through our email provider, SMTP2GO. We keep support requests so we can follow up on them; to have yours deleted, write to support@memspire.com with your tracking number.
